The Center for Integrated Research on Space Science, Astronomy and Physics (CIRs) was founded in May 2019 as part of the Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Science at Qingdao, Shandong University. CIRs is also an integral unit within the academic structure of Institute of Space Sciences (ISS), Shandong University. CIRs is determined to make itself a world-leading center of research excellence, as is ISS as a whole. The founding director of the CIRs is Professor Dr. Yao CHEN, who also serves as the first executive director of ISS.
The CIRs is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the space by adopting a synergistic approach incorporating observational, theoretical and numerical studies as well as development of ground-based and space-borne instrumentation. At present, the CIRs already sets up two focused research teams, which are actively working on the dynamics of the solar atmosphere and advanced technologies of small satellites.
