Particle physics is the most fundamental andfrontier science. At present, most of the experimental researches in particle physics are carried out in the form of international cooperation, and the research results not only promote the development of particle physics, but also serve as the foundation of high and new technology, and the birth and the base of some science and advanced technology.
The Standard Model of particle physics established in the 20th century is the most successful theory to describe the elemental particles and their interactions in nature. However, there are still some problems such as non-perturbation solution of QCD, hadron structure, and the origin of particle mass that have not been completely solved. Moreover, the non-zeromassof neutrinos, the existence of dark matter and dark energy, etc., also indicate that the Standard Model is an incomplete theory. Therefore, many accelerator and non-accelerator experiments are being carried out vigorously in the world, such as the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the Beijing Positron Collider (BEPC), the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment (Daya Bay), and the LHASSO and so on, making particle physics one of the most active scientific frontiers today. The main researches in our laboratory for this direction are as follows:
(1) Nucleon structure and the strong interaction
(2) The origin of the particle mass and new physics
(3) Ultra-high-energy cosmic ray physics
