On behalf of Shandong University (SDU), Professor Zhang Yang's team from the Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Science became a member of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory + (SNO+) international collaboration group, which is renowned in the world.

The team is the first one in China to join the SNO+, intending to conduct research on important physics topics such as reactor neutrinos and neutrinoless double beta decay.

The SNO+ collaboration group consists of well-known universities and institutions from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and China.

SDU's accession to the group will play a pivotal role in boasting its international cooperation and communication, developing particle physics science and attracting talents, as well as further improving its international reputation and influence in the field of particle physics.

The SNO+ was originated from the SNO experiment, which won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015 for its outstanding contributions to the study of solar neutrinos.
